Sunnyenergy is a Malawian social enterprise founded in 2024 and based in Area 49, Lilongwe, created to address the challenge of limited access to modern energy services among underserved communities in Malawi — particularly rural and peri-urban areas that are not connected to the national electricity grid. The idea behind the company was shaped by our founders' own experience of living without electricity, where the lack of reliable energy affects education, health, and economic opportunity every single day.
Since then, we've grown into a trusted local partner distributing genuine Sun King solar lighting products and Solar Home Systems that give households safe lighting, phone charging, and power for small appliances — reducing dependence on kerosene and other unsafe energy sources — alongside improved cookstoves that cut indoor air pollution and fuel use. Today we serve 50+ communities across Malawi with clean, affordable, reliable energy.

Through the Demand Side Subsidy Results-Based Financing project, we help make Off-Grid Solar and Improved Cookstove products more affordable for low-income households.
Beyond commercial sales, we've donated Solar Home Systems to schools such as Bang'ombe Primary in Lilongwe, helping students study after dark.
